Six New Things at SIX MONTHS!

Spitting and trying Sweet Potatoes. Then spitting and sweet potatoes together which makes for one messy but cute boy.
Scooting. Owen does not like to be on his stomach for long but he was trying to reach my feet and pushed his upper body around to play with them. He can scoot about 180.

Sitting. Owen has always had upper body strength but he is reallly pushing himself up now when he has a little support behind him. Here he is in his car seat; he also sits up in his bouncer and the boppy. When I lean him into the boppy on the couch by me he topples forward because the couch is squishy and propels him the rest of the way forward.

Sleeping. Yea! It has probably been about two weeks with this one where he only wakes up once in the night to be fed. Usually the second time I can give him his binky and he falls back to sleep. He has also been pretty good about a nap schedule too!
Shrieking. I am so mad, I have tried three times to load the video of Owen shrieking and spitting. Maybe I will try again, but suffice it to say he gets real excited when one of us comes into the room or talks to him. He will also spit little bubbles, maybe a sign of teething??
Slim. Lastly Owen is stayin' slim or more like staying 18 lbs. At 5 months he weighed 18 lbs and three weeks later he weighed only 18 lbs. 3 oz. This is probably a result of eating less at night and I am stretching him during the day.
So there you have it, our cutie pie is half a year old!!!
Side note - Does anyone want to hear about my grocery savings adventures?

Sunday Night Dinner

Since the Barnes family was gone Sunday to visit Kelsey for her birthday, we invited Kimmy over to have dinner with us. We made our own version of a Bajio dinner--enchiladas, sweet rice, and spicey corn. Yum! Kent is a genius at recreating restaurant tastes!
Happy Clam!

I guess this is Kent's way of saying "I'm hungry, stop taking pictures!" haha

Yes, I am eating on a chair, even though we have a table.

Purse Tag

After I saw Randi and Kristi's post, I decided I would do this one because I had really wanted to do the house and honesty tags but never did. Then Kamilla tagged me, so here it is. haha.
Diaper bag slash purse for sure. Actually, I never have been a purse carrier. I know there are some way super cute ones out there, but I am much happier just carrying a little wallet in my back pocket. But today I had diaper and wipes case, extra onesie (two months ago Owen had an accident and I had to carry him into the chapel with only a diaper on, yeah not smart) (oh and I am always borrowing onesies from Kelsey when she is here. haha), coin purse, wallet, church papers which include RS calender, VT assignment, and how to install a web filter on your computer, phone, gum, lipgloss (Sephora Bronzed Beauty- thee best), chapstick (for Kent), binky, teether, keys, and receipts to fast food, haha.

Owen's Silly Laugh

Kent having too much fun.

Apparently it was toast crumbs and then a little piece of toast.

Happy Day

Owen was grumpy, but not Kent and I. Well, we were upset that Thursday night Owen was screaming from 1:30 to 4:30 because of tummy trouble and maybe teething and definitely tired. I would bounce him on my knees and he would snooze and then wake up screaming and arching his back till I bounced him again. We did this routine about 5 times for an hour. Then I walked around with him and bicycled his legs till he fell asleep for 15 minutes off and on. Absolutely no fun.
But on Friday it was a completely different story, he slept eight hours straight through the night. Never happened before. Kent said twice in the night I woke up startled and said, "Where's the baby!?" I guess I was really confused and thought he was gone because I wasn't taking care of him. haha. Then Saturday night he only woke up once and went to bed real early. I guess he is learning that the crib means sleep time. He is a good baby, but I really think he is teething cause he wails when he bumps his gums wiyh his toys.

Random pics from Friday morning. Owen sleep deprived. Kent sleep deprived. Kambria definitely sleep deprived. Neighbors most likely sleep deprived. Kent studying.

I love bulletin board and ebay, cause I sold some stuff we don't use to have money to get this SEWING MACHINE. I am sooooooooooooooooooo excited.

First thing I will make is a skirt!!

Known as Mr. Curls

Kent's family has curly-ish hair. Especially the boys. It seems Owen takes after the stringham side with his hair texture. But it is quite blonde, I guess that is from me.It's mohawk time!

Wheels

This sensory blanket was really simple and so fun to make. Wish I had a picture of Kelsey and I cutting and sewing away. I swiped the picture of Jaeger off Kels's blog, cause he is too cute. Either our babies are spoiled or we are :)

Yesterday

I made a fantastic cake! The recipe is here. I substituted milk and lemon juice for the buttermilk and I did the freezer trick.
Jeans! Owen looks like a toddler (but he still has the needs of a baby), he is growing way too fast.

Kelsey, I found this in my old sketchbook. . . FHE? See! We were friends even then! ;)

My garden already grew, with a jade plant, aloe vera plant and a desert rose!

Yea for you, I'm going to share my random stories and online "window" shopping ;)

My own little container garden! With succulents (kinda like cactus) you don't have to have alot of light or water. They come in alot of designs, I'm starting out with some basics that hopefully I can get to grow. One day I will have a succulent garden like this one. . .

And I really, really want a herb garden this spring--basil, chives, lemon grass, rosemary. . .

As we women know bargains make us happy and proud, so here I am sharing with you my kelly green crocodile wallet that I got for 5.97!

Can I share a very sad/funny story? About my driver's license. The picture. It is very scary.

This is me 12 days before Owen's birth. My nose is swollen. My cheeks are swollen. And my lips are swollen so as to cover my teeth when I smile and make me look like a gummer. Ever time I look at this picture, I get scared. Oh well, it was worth it.

On to my window shopping.

These are my needs. A convertible car seat. (Rear-facing and forward-facing.) I think I'll go with the sand Recaro seat. But I can dream about the Combi Carrot Cake carseat that is stylish and compact, can't I? We need a dresser. These vintage refinished dressers are awesome at From the Vintage Farm in Pocatello. Seriously, have you priced all-wood dressers? Insane! These, though are under a 100! Yeah, our plywood WalMart one died.

These items are my wants. I am very grateful for all that I have. But a girl can get a little excited over color and summer, can't she? These modest swimsuits from Lime Ricki are too cute! And I have had my eye on these dangly earrings from Maurices for awhile now :)
That's it, the end.

Cheek-splitting grin!

Personality

Creamie Happiness

Owen was so happy this morning, I just had to snap away. He has been taking his medicine for the ear infection so well, no spitting, just slurping. He always follows our food when we eat and today I gave him some tastes of my creamie and he loved it!

Grandpa and Grandma's House

Owen actually had his head up against my dad's head and my mom said "hurry take a picture" but my dad pulled away. haha. Here he is getting tickled.
Owen loves Grandma and she really wanted him to feel the sensory blanket that Kelsey and I made. He hugged it! Kelsey and I each have one, but I will wait till she posts pics before we show you how it turned out completely. So fun! (Yes, in the background, Katelin has a cast on her arm. . . skating.)

This is my next project :) Think spring.

Take II on Kaycee's Wedding!

The Historic Shelton Chapel. Married in the Rexburg Temple and Reception in this building.

The cool tower in the chapel. Hope Kaycee doesn't mind I swipped these two pics. Random thought: I went to a high school dance in this building ;)
Here we are, most wonderful.

This is what receptions do to Kent. . .

And this is what they do to me, make me tired and silly.

I was able to put together Kaycee and Danny's slide show with pictures such as these. . .

Danny has five older brothers and it seems they dressed him up as a girl at a young age.

Kaycee was all girl with this lipstick face!

Cute, cute cousins!
